Richard Banach Obituary

Richard (Dick) Joseph Banach passed away early Sunday morning, June 2, 2013, at his home in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The memorial service will take place at Holy Apostles Catholic Church. It will begin with recitation of the Rosary at 6:30 PM followed by a celebratory Mass at 7:00 and reception shortly thereafter. Please feel welcome to join us at your convenience. Dick was born on May 12, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York to Joseph and Irene (Szczepaniak) Banach. He attended Queensbury High School and completed his formal education at Hudson Valley Community College. This was followed by active duty in the US Army. He was a Vietnam War veteran during which he served as a helicopter radio specialist. Dick began his career as a Microelectronics Packaging Engineer with General Electric, Hudson Falls, NY, followed by Honeywell, Phoenix, AZ, and finished at Atmel, CO Spgs, CO. He enjoyed photography, skiing, fly tying, cycling, electronics, and gardening. Dick is survived by his wife of 45 years, Virginia; his sister, Sandra Millholland; and three sons: Richard, Matthew and Philip. He volunteered at his church landscaping, built homes for Habitat for Humanity, and assisted in transportation for the Interfaith Hospitality Network. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holy Apostles Outreach which serves those in need.
