My memories of Rick are rich and varied. A constant reminder of him will be my sturdy mailbox which he built years ago. He was a skilled
carpenter among his other talents.
We will miss him. He walked bravely forward into his future even after he had been told there was no earthly cure for him.

Richard was my friend. He touch my life with his amiable persona. In 1984 we made a weekend tour of Washington, DC. He will be missed and remembered. “Did you want that a bag or a sack?”

Dear Jan, John, Brian, and Ned,
I am so sorry for your loss. Richard understood your uniqueness and valued each and everyone of you. Try to remember the wonderful lessons that he taught us and and how much richer we are having known him. He added fullness and flavor to our lives in so many countless ways. I'm sorry I cannot be with you to share your grief and rejoice in his life.
With deepest condolences,
Ron Carter

Rick will be missed. He was such a delightful passionate person, a great lover of the earth, music, art, and wood craft and was just such an interesting guy. My prayers are with you.

To say that Rick had no enemies could possibly be an understatement. He was and always will be on my list of kindest people I have ever known. Whenever I hear John Lennon sing or see a picture of him, I "imagine" Rick, because I think that is exactly the world he wished for as well. My best memories of Rick are from long ago, an easier time and probably the best ones to have. Our deepest sympathies go to his family.

As we heard of Rick's passing, we felt a great pain in our hearts. He was a very sweet individual and will be missed, especially by his family who loved him dearly.
You will be in our prayers during this week, please let us know if we can help in any way. We would like to attend the service in Gerton if you would like us there.
Sincerely,
The Hartwell's of Gerton
