Richard Becker Obituary

Richard DuWayne Becker passed away on May 22, 2016 from esophageal cancer. He was 58 years old.

Loved by many, Rick was known for his generosity and willingness to help others. Rick was born on June 16, 1957 in Missouri and raised in Colorado Springs by his parents Donna and LeRoy Becker. He graduated from Air Academy High School in 1975 and attended college at Western State University where he majored in business. Both during and after college, Rick worked for Air Academy School District 20 and was promoted to head custodian before he left to start his own property maintenance company. Rick specialized in home renovating and remodeling throughout Colorado Springs.

In his spare time, Rick enjoyed being outdoors and in the mountains. He was an avid skier, fisherman and loved camping. Rick was a proud member of the Elks Lodge #309 for over 40 years. Though his service there, he met many life-long friends. Always ready for an adventure, Rick resided in both Japan and Guam where he worked construction on various US military bases.

Rick was preceded in death by his mother, Donna Becker and his stepmother, Joyce. He is survived by his father, LeRoy, brother, Mike, and stepbrother, Spencer (Jaime) and their two children. He left behind many people who love him including his aunt, Bertie and uncle, Bob Mahan and their children, Rick and Patty (Louis) Savio; and Missouri cousins, Gene (Chris), Sherry, Wayne Elwood and their children.

A private memorial service was held by Rick's family and his ashes were spread throughout the mountains he loved so much.

It was Rick's wish that everyone be aware his cancer could have been prevented with early detection.
