Richard A. Berard was born April 6th, 1942, in Woonsocket, Rhode Island to Joseph and Lillian (Forget) Berard and passed away peacefully at home on December 20th, 2021 at the age of 79. He is preceded in death by his lovely wife Margaret (Brindley) Berard, his parents, and sister, Rollande Berard.
Affectionately known as Rich and Poppy to those who knew him, he is survived by his two daughters Rachel (Gary) of Nelson, New Hampshire and Danielle (Mike) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; four grandsons, Andrew, Braden, Liam and Cooper as well as numerous relatives and many friends.
Enlisted in the US Air Force at the age of seventeen, he bravely fought for his country in the Vietnam war. While in the military, communications had been his specialty. He was extremely proud of having served and worked with four-star generals at the Cheyenne Mountain Complex. He retired after twenty-five years of service. Richard had lived in Colorado Springs for thirty-nine years. He also worked at the Peterson AFB Exchange and still considered all the base personnel family.
Richard was a strong Catholic with a heart on fire for the Lord, he had a zest for life and was always up for a good time…especially watching his grandsons playing lacrosse. He was kind, funny and very loyal! He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
His service will be held on January 28th at 2:00pm at the Shrine of Remembrance located at 1730 E Fountain Blvd in Colorado Springs.

Richard was one of a kind. Always joyful and always ready to share a good military story. Rest well, my friend. You and Margret are together again in eternity.
