I didn't know you long, but in the short time I did I must admit I enjoyed your quirky sense of humor. Thanks for being you.

I met Rick when we were both in the Army stationed in Germany. Although we have only seen eachother a few time since, we have kept in touch and I looked forward to seeing him again. He was a great guy and will be missed.

Through my brother and his wife, Spence and Jamie, I first met Rick... years ago... And we met Bea and Arnie when Spence graduated from the Air Force Academy in 1966... Amidst his life of world travel, Rick visited our family in Olympia, WA... We all strolled along the shores of Puget Sound looking for bald eagles... Rick always sent us his annual Christmas letter and update, with personal note added... It was a shock to hear just yesterday that Rick had died... I would appreciate any information about the cause of death that could be offered... He was quite splendid...

I met Rich Carlson back in 1964-1965 when we worked together at the Elks club as lifeguards and instructors. We have kept up all these years, at least at Christmas, as well as personal visits dotted here and there. I also met my future husband through the Carlson family as they sponsored Spence as a new cadet at the Academy. Now thirty five years later, we were very sad to hear of Rick's passing. We don't even know what actually happened to cause such an early demise. If anyone could enlighten us, it would be very much appreciated. God Bless You! Rich! We'll look for your grin when it's our time. Bea and Arnie must be in 7th heaven! Love, Jamie Dee
and Spence

Rick and his family "adopted" me when I first journeyed to Colorado and the AF Academy in 1962. He was a loyal friend who kept up with my family for the past 40+ years. His humor, positive attitude, and energy will be sorely missed. God Bless, Rick!

Rick was a ski buddy of mine in our High School days on the ski patrol. He was a great friend to have. We just moved from Golden and I only wish I would have known we lived so close. God bless you, Beav, on your journey.

Still the same guy 36 years later. Age didn't slow his wit any. Hope they have a good golf course up there.

Rick was one of my favorite people. He was dedicated to the game, took a lot of crap and still stuck with it when others would run. He was unique, his pin collection hat and face mask at valetines day, made him stand out like a sore thumb, and made you laugh at his comfotable state of being able to pull it off. I would like to thank him for all the hard work he has done, for his constant love and friendship over the years. I will miss him very much.
