Richard Deeds Obituary

Dick believed in God the Father and in life everlasting. Born in Madison, South Dakota to Walt and Grace (Gimpel) Deeds. He is survived by his Wife of 59 years, Nancy (Karlowski) Deeds. Daughters, Deborah Lamb (Mark), Diane Johnson (Tony), Patricia Deeds-Starr (Dan), Son, David (Stella), and a member of the family Tim Redfern (Maureen). Grandchildren, Nathan, Brad (Megan), Scott Johnson, Erin (Rob) Smith, Travis (Brittani) Lamb, Kellen and Taylor Starr (Jeromie Traphagan) and three Great-Grandchildren. Extended family members, Lisa and Lynn Lundy and Riley and Kelly Redfern. Dick came to Camp Carson with the South Dakota National Guard, was then activated to Sgt. 1st Class with the 196th RCT on the Alcan Highway during operation Totem Pole. After leaving Alaska, he was discharged at Camp Carson in June 1952. Dick and Nancy were married July 22, 1952 at the Congregational Church in Manitou Springs, CO. He joined Sheet Metal Workers Union #9 and was a sheet metal worker for many years before he and a partner took over Midwest/Colorado Springs, a HVAC testing and balancing Co., until retirement in 1992. He enjoyed family reunions, camping and fishing at Cottonwood and Twin Lakes, trips to Cripple Creek and watching Colorado Rockies and Broncos games. In his honor, a private service will be held at graveside in Crystal Valley Cemetery in Manitou Springs, a celebration of life will follow at the Starrs. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cascade Volunteer Fire Dept. in Cascade, Colorado.
