Lynda and family, I am so very sorry for your loss. I did not learn of your husband/father's passing until the services were over. Lynda, you were so loving and supportive when I needed it, I can only hope that my prayers can somehow reach your heart. I know he was your very best friend!

Colonel Farkas was the wing commnader when my wife (who was the first female missileer at our base) and I got married. Some of the senior staff made the transition to integrated male / female crews a difficult time but Colonel Farkas and his wife Linda were always very supportive. He was a role model for me and many others I am sure. He will be missed.

Lynda, Steve, and Bob,

I just heard and am floored. Col Farkas (I'm 46 now, but can't imagine calling him Dick) was like a second father to me in high school. Strong, charming, and loving he was a great man who will be missed by many. The Naglers extend our deepest sympathies.

When my Mom visited in Enid, OK, you not only loaned us a rollaway bed, but Dick delivered and opened it to guarantee my Mom would sleep comfortably. Today I know it was so like the innkeeper who provided the Holy Family with a place to sleep. Kindnesses are remembered and I share this at a sad time with the hope that good memories will someday lessen your sorrow.

We also grew up with Dick in Hollywood, FL. Our families spent a lot of time together and we all attended St. Johns Lutheran Church. The guys were in boy scouts & Luther League together. We were certainly shocked to receive this news from his sister Linda. Our thoughts & prayers are with the entire Farkas family.

I will miss Dick! Here is typical Richard. He lived next door to my father on Turkey Foot Lake. My father hadn't put the boat in the water yet when my son came up from Florida for a visit. My son looked on with envy (he was 16 at the time) at all the boaters pulling their kids around the lake "tubing". Dick saw that and immediately volunteered to take Brandon, my son, out tubing for a half hour or so! And I've never seen a bigger smile on my son's face! The one with the bigger smile was Dick!! I will never forget that! Thank you, Dick!
