The sadness I feel for your passing matches the sadness I feel for the passing of a great radio heritage that you lead at KILO. It's a time in my life I will never forget. My teaching career was enhanced by working for you and learning from one of the truly great radio programmers. Even my son, who grew up listening to KILO still tells me his love of music grew from listening to KILO and knowing that radio can be more than it is today. Rest in Peace good friend. Take care knowing you have sown great seeds.

I'm blessed with great memories of Rich Hawk and everyone I had the pleasure of working with at KILO 94. If there ever comes a day when we can't be together...Keep me in your heart,I'll stay there forever.

I was also on the original crew at KILO in the late 70's. I was not on the air, but on the sales staff. Rich always treated me to his big, beautiful smile even though he knew I was responsible for jamming up the airwaves with all those ads. Always a class act and even though I haven't seen him in thirty years I've always had a soft spot for him in my heart. My most sincere condolences to his family.

Rich was a dear friend, he will be missed. Rich has an open door policy and he love trying out all the Sushi places in town. We spend many a lunch together talking about how life had unfolded for the both of us .We spend many an hour in his office talking about Rock and Roll. He was truly a pioneer in the Colorado Springs music scene.Love YA and you will always be in my heart.

In 1974 for my college Broadcasting internship I was assigned to Radio station KIIQ. In my second week the station hired a new news man by the name of Rich Hawk. Rich was new to the area having come from a small market station in I believe Lamar Colorado. Here I was an intern helping the new guy find his way around the station, getting live interviews with recording equipment that was even low tech for 1974. I remember the first few live newscasts he did being in this little closet like room holding his news copy while he did the newscast. We were the same age but Rich had worked in radio for a while and even at that age was very professional. I remember wondering how he was able to pull together this well done very good news cast. After my internship I did not see Rich until I was hired by KILO as a DJ in 1977. Working together at KILO was often a challenge for both of us but we made it work for 10 years. Looking back at it now those 10 years were the high lite of my life. I miss those mornings when Hawk and I would sit in his office talking about music with Rich taking in all of my suggestions making me feel like I was an important part of the KILO family. Thank you Rich for being an important part of my life. You are and have been in my thoughts and always will be. LOVE YOU BRO!
