Richard Jensen Obituary

Richard Norman Jensen died on September 2, 2014 in Naples, FL. He was born in Seattle, Washington to Hans and Mary Jensen on July 17, 1926. Mr Jensen left high school his senior year to join the Navy and completed his high school degree while on Active Duty.

Following his discharge at the conclusion of the war, he enrolled in The School of Business at the University of Washington, graduating in 1951 with a degree in Accounting. Immediately thereafter, Mr. Jensen joined the international accounting firm, Price Waterhouse Coopers. In 1953, he earned his CPA certificate.

During his lifelong career with Price Waterhouse Coopers, Mr. Jensen served as General Partner, was sent on Special Assignment to San Juan, Puerto Rico, and opened new offices for the firm in Sacramento and in Cincinnati, where he was Partner-In-Charge for 15 years.

Throughout his lifetime, Mr. Jensen donated significant time to various charitable and nonprofit organizations. He served on the Boards of the Sacramento Symphony Association and The Commodore Club, where he also acted as Treasurer. Mr. Jensen also served as Treasurer of Vanderbilt Presbyterian Church of Naples, Florida, and he was active in a variety of organizations such as the Finance Committee of Quail Creek Country Club, the Finance Committee of the Park Home Owners Association, and the Finance Committee of Le Parc.

Mr. Jensen was a member of Grey Oaks Country Club and La Playa Beach Club, and he was a former member of the Naples Yacht Club, and the Garden of the Gods Country Club in Colorado Springs.

In his younger years, he was a superb athlete in tennis and golf. He will be missed very much by all his family and friends.

Mr. Jensen was predeceased by his parents, his first wife, Doris, and his second wife, Bernie. He is survived by his wife, Jean, his son, Jim, his daughter, Jackie, his grandchildren, Ryan and Evin Gates, and Derek Jensen, and by his great-grandson, Donovan Gates. He is also survived by his stepsons, Louis and Richard Hornor, and by his stepdaughter, Jeanne Spicher, and her husband, Dennis Spicher.

Services will be private.

Jean and Families,

Linda and I are so saddened over Dick,s death. Although he was seriously ill and disabled the past several years he never lost his pleasant demeanor and humor. His outstanding financial career and many personal friends offers insight into what a wonderful and successful life he achieved.
