Richard Kitt Obituary

Rick, our beloved husband, brother, and friend passed away after a severe head injury from a fall. Born in Salt Lake City to James B. and Dorothy C. Kitt, he was the 2nd child of 8. He grew up in the Canyon Rim/Millcreek area, a young man who enjoyed playing baseball, hunting, fishing, and working with his father. At a young age he acquired all manner of skills from electronics, to auto mechanics, to building skills. Rick was a lifelong do-it-yourselfer, being envied by many. And yes, at times, he was a bit of a hell-raiser! He graduated from Skyline High, proudly served his country in the Army Reserves, and received his Bachelor's Degree in Finance/Economics from Westminster College. He married his lifelong sweetheart Alice J. Romick, and they celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary this year.

Rick was employed by the Equitable Life Insurance Co. for 27 years. During this time, he achieved his Chartered Life Underwriter Certificate from The American College of Life Underwriters. He managed numerous large offices and designed large corporate insurance policies. Promotions in his career sent them to multiple states, eventually making Colorado Springs their home for 37 years. Friends across the country will mourn his passing.

Rick is survived by his wife Alice, his siblings Bonnie Whiteman (Ron), Steve, Ken (Jean), Doug (Nancy), Debra Springer (Rick), and Jennifer Coleman (Lindsey), and Alice's siblings Jan Walker (Bart), Sue Brown (Van), and Michelle (Steve), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. All will remember his deep voice, animated expressions, quick wit, hearty laugh, enthusiasm for life, and his generosity. Richard will be sorely missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Roger.

At his request, no services will be held at this time. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his name to Colorado Springs Care and Share Food Bank or your local Food Bank. Online condolences: www.legacy.com.

Alice - I will always remember walking down to your house and finding you and Rick on the back deck enjoying your lovely, peaceful yard. You were always so welcoming to me as we would sit and chat for a while. I will miss our visits. Our deepest condolences.
