Richard Leyba Obituary

In Loving Memory Richard F. Leyba, 66 of Colorado Springs, passed away at a local hospital, January 12, 2006 after a long battle with diabetes. Richard was born on May 13, 1939 in Trinchera, Colorado to Carl Leyba and Josephine S. Martinez. He married Louise Rodriguez on September 26, 1961. After graduating from high school in Trinidad, Colorado, Richard joined the United States Army and was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany and several Military Bases in the United States. Richard moved to Colorado Springs in 1964 where he retired as a foreman for the City Street Department. He was also a retired A.D.A.D., DUI Master, Correctional Specialist, Anger Management; He was also a CAC III. for the state of Colorado Bridge of Awareness Counseling Center. Richard is survived by his wife of 44 years, Louise, daughter: Charlotte (Brian) Bowan; sons: Richard (Anita) Leyba Jr., Carl (Juanita) Leyba; six grandchildren: Renee, Angela, and Alex Bowman, Angelo Martinez, Reva and Reanna Leyba; one great grandchild: Sophia Bowman; sisters: Margaret Gerardo, Mary Trujillo; and sister-in-law, Faye Leyba. Richard's passion and spiritual support for his family was paramount in his life. A great legacy Richard leaves behind is the easy, unassuming way he influenced people from all walks of life; his clients, colleagues, friends and family will greatly miss him. Thanks for all the guidance and love. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday January 18, 2006 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home; family Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, and Funeral Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2006 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church on Circle and Pikes Peak. Interment follows with military honors.
