Richard Linder Obituary

Richard Linder, 89 years old, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away March 22, 2017, at Brookdale Broadmoor Assisted Living, surrounded and supported by his loving family.

He was born November 19, 1927, in Loomis, Nebraska, where he was raised on a farm with his parents, Mervin and Blanche, and his brother Bob. Richard then moved to Hastings, Nebraska in the early 1950's, where he worked at the Hastings Navy Depot, and met his surviving wife of 59 years, Patricia (Goedert).

Richard and Pat moved to Denver in 1954, later moving to Cañon City and then to Colorado Springs where they lived in the same house for 50 years. Richard retired in 1989 as a federal employee of the Civil Service at Fort Carson, working as an Electronics Service Technician.

Richard had many hobbies. He was an avid bowler, card player, hunter, and enjoyed donating his time to Cards for Kids, an organization that provided sports cards for kids. He volunteered his time to the Fountain Valley Senior Center by calling Color-Pin Bowling at the Fountain Valley Bowling Alley for the senior bowling league. He easily made friends and could carry a conversation with anyone, on any subject.

Richard was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.He was also a lifetime member of the Elks Club Canon City #610.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Mervin and Blanche Linder; his son, David Linder; and a grandson, Alan Nitchie. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia; 4 children: Martha (husband Ray), Janet (husband Bob), Jeanie (husband Jimmy), Kris (deceased husband Steve). He was blessed by having 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and 1 great-great-great grandchild. He is also survived by his brother, Robert (wife Jean).

A viewing will be held from 5:00pm-7:00pm with the rosary following, on March 28, 2017 at Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 East Fountain Blvd, Colorado Springs, CO. The funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 5354 US Hwy 85, with viewing at 9:30 am and Mass beginning at 10:00 am. A reception will follow at the church.

Memorials may be made to St. Dominic Catholic Church or a charity of choice.
