Richard Littrell Obituary

Dr. Richard Vaughn Littrell died on April 12, 2005 in Columbus, Ohio. He was a Lancaster Ohio native. He was born March 26, 1933. Dr. Littrell attended schools in Lancaster and Columbus. Richard and his brothers were all military veterans. After serving three years in the U.S. Coast Guard (1950-1953) Dr. Littrell graduated from The Ohio State University, the University of Michigan and completed his doctorate at the University of Northern Colorado. He retired from the faculty of Kent State University after having taught in Michigan, Ohio and Colorado Springs for 32 years. He also was associated with the building trades as a general contractor for 40 years. Dr. Littrell is survived by his wife, Dr. Sharon A. (Smith) Littrell of Colorado Springs; one sister, Georgia Swinger of Columbus; sons: Richard Jr, Walter, Robert, Andrew, John, Bradley and Charles Littrell; ten grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, George Halderman Littrell and Minnie Irene (Hartman) Littrell; and three brothers: George E, James P. and Marlin E. Littrell. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on May 6, 2005 at the First Congregational Church. Donations to hospice at Kobacker House, 3595 Olentangy River Road, Columbus, OH 43214.
