Richard Moehring Obituary

Rich Moehring, 75, passed away on May 3, 2013 after a brief, hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer. He was a native of Colorado Springs, living only a few years in Illinois, as a child, where he attended a one-room school house. He completed his education at Colorado Springs High School (now Palmer High School). Rich served his country in the U.S. Army. He had a varied work career including professional ski patrolman at Breckenridge, skilled carpenter, and he was a paratransit driver for Metro Mobility for the past 10 years. He was an avid motorcyclist from his teen years, and was still racing motocross at 65 years old. He discovered the Single Action Shooting Society (SASS) in 2005. Rich sold all of his motorcycles, bought Old West guns and clothing, and began his Cowboy Action Shooting career under the alias of "Windy Ike," making many great friends in the shooting community. Rich was preceded in death by his mother and father, Helen and Robert Moehring, as well as his biological father, Milo Willcox. He is survived by Jeanne, his loving wife of 41 years; also by a sister, Sandra (Alan) Tubbs; and two brothers, Robert (Theresa) Moehring, all of Colorado Springs; and Kenneth Moehring of Pueblo. He also leaves many, much-loved nieces and nephews. In his final days, he was lovingly cared for by the angels (both paid workers and volunteers) at the Penrose Hospital 6th floor Pikes Peak Hospice. At Rich's request, no services are planned.
