Born in Denver, the second of Harry and Elsie's four children, he was an Eagle Scout, 1946 South High grad, and served in WWII and Korea.
In 1953 he married Eva Jane Morton. They raised three children and lived in Denver, Englewood, Breckenridge, and Colorado Springs, wintering in Mesa, AZ. He earned his B.A., M.A., and Ed.D. from the University of Northern Colorado and became an elementary school principal who opened both Greenwood and High Plains in the Cherry Creek school district between 1958 and 1985. He served on the Colorado Mountain College board for 11 years.
Retirement included cowboy poetry: memorizing and reciting more than 50 classic poems at western gatherings with Jane, an award-winning poet who died in 2020.
He is survived by John (Kasia) Morton, Lizabeth (John) Duckworth, and Mary (James) Crawford; grandchildren, James (Alison) Crawford, Rich Crawford, Heather (Matt) Dane, Chris Duckworth, and Jon (Abby) Duckworth; and five great-grandchildren.

Was surprised to learn of Dick's passing. He and Jane were good friends from Colorado State College of Education (UNC) to present. We both came to Cherry Creek Schools in 1958 serving on many levels of education for children. Peace, Dick. True Morgan
