Richard Nolan Obituary

Richard J. Nolan was born August 20, 1931 in Colorado Springs to John and Frances (Helger) Nolan. The Nolan family resided on South 21st Street near the old Colorado Midland yards for many years. He graduated from Colorado Springs High School and began learning the masonry trade working with his brothers.

Rich served in the Air Force from 1950 to 1954, being stationed in Guam for most of his enlistement. Upon returning to Colorado SPrings he took up his masonry trade. He worked for many of the builders in the region and for a period of time had his own masonry business. He built his own home, equipping it with three fireplaces whichwere his specialty.

Rich was a man of many talents. He was an excellent artist with many of his paintings haning in homes throughout Colorado Springs and beyond. His artwork won many awards inluding the opportunity to exhibit a painting in Louvre Museum in Paris. He enjoyed beating you at horseshoes and, as many found to their dismay, shot a mean game of pool. He was a member of Bricklayers Union number 4 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #143.

Rich married the love of his life, Thelma Tamplin on August 10, 1957. In addition to a wife Rich acquired two step children, Judith and Larry Tamplin. Larry died in 197 and Theloma followed in 2010. Rich was predeceased by his parents, five brothers, Louie, Chuck, Martin, Troy, Frankie and two sisters, Jean Clark and Helen Claus.

He is survived by his step daughter, Judith Adams, and several nieces and nephews.
