Richard Peterburs Obituary

To my oldest and best friend Rick,

We have known each other for so long, some 28 years or more now, we grew up together. Through tears and smiles, laughter and heartache, you've been a part of my life. We have spent many great times with each other and have had a lot of great adventures. Knowing you changed my life in so many ways. I am who I am because of you. I am profoundly saddened that I couldn’t have been around these last few years. If I could change only one thing in my life it would to have been there for you. Over the years I will share our stories and remember all our greatest times. Your memory will always be alive within me.



May the road be swift and narrow.

May the wind be always behind you.

May the sun warm your face

May the rainfall softly on your fields and until you call again

May your god hold you in the palm of his hand.

Sometime life gets so busy we forget to tell the people we love how much they really mean to us and before you know it, it is to late. To all of you who may read this tell all of those you love how you feel before it is too late.

I just heard and am so very sad.



I had the privledge of working with Rick at both Western Farm Bureau and ING Security Life of Denver. I truly admire him and always will. Rick was a rare breed: loving, caring, compassionate, supportive, sensitive, giving.. and all of it came naturally! Most of us have to work at being good human beings but with Rick, these qualities were inherent.



Linda, I can't express how very sorry I am for your loss. Please know that you and yours are in my thoughts. If there is anything I can do, don't hesitate to let me know.

Redstar was a truly great friend to my husband,Rich "zouave". Even though they never met in person, Rich felt like he had known Rick, in a way, all his life. They could "talk" via emails, phone, etc...about almost anything...guns, history,personal stuff, you name it...and honestly. It's not everyday, a person can be blessed by having such a friend like that. He will be sorely missed by us forever...May you rest in peace, Redstar...And, to Linda, God bless you and your family, and may you find comfort in knowing that you shared your life with such a well-loved and truly great person as Rick...I'm sure you already know that. Take care of yourself and let us know if you need anything...We'll all be here for you...

Rick will be missed by everyone. A great giving person that touched a lot of people with his words of advise and encouragement. Peace to his family and may the Lord watch over them with Rick at His side.

I am so sorry to hear of Rick's passing. I knew him through the C&R forums and have learned much from him. Giving, caring people are hard to find and even harder to lose.

a man i never met, but today shed tears for. he was an internet freind, but much much more, a human who shared with all who asked. he will be missed, but he is with his beloved mother. thank you rick for all you did.

He taught alot of us much and will be missed greatly by all. Thoughts and prayers for his family in these hard times. We will miss you REDSTAR!

I am so sorry to hear about Rick. As part of the family we did not get to know Rick very well and that's our loss, but I'm sure if we had, we would of been the best of buddies. Rick is in Good Hands and I don't mean All State. (I hope you laugh)



I pray that God gives you the strength and the hope that you will overcome this ordeal. Time does not help an ordeal of this fathom, it only helps to cope with it.



The things you did together will never be done; they were all done yesterday and today they are gone, what remains are all the memories you made, some you will more than cherish, and some will never fade.

I knew Rick only from his posts online. He was a great guy with lots of knowledge to share. Many in the online community will miss Rick and I will be one of them.

I was one of Rick's many, many "virtual" friends. He was a wealth of information that he shared readily and gladly. He was a friend to all.



I am stunned, to say the least. Lynda, my sincere condolences to you and his entire family. You are in my thoughts.

Rick, you and Rich were the foundation for a forum that brought so many of us together. We will never forget you.

I know that Rick touched many lives and everything that he gave to each of us, will continue to enrich our lives, long after he is gone. Peace be with you.

Rick was a really neat guy. There are not alot of neat people like Rick was and the world is that much less now. Rick really loved both his wife and his parents and it was communicated everytime he spoke of them. He treasured the time he had with them. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Rick was later promoted to website Admin of all of Guns Network and had been in this position for the last 2 years before he decided to take a break / illness recently. Rick will be sincerely missed, as he was a cornerstone to all of us at Guns Network. We are a better website and better people because of who he was to all of us. I only knew rick for about a year on gunsnet forums but I looked up to him and admired him, I loved all the stories he told us about smeagol and his hunting trips, He loved his cats!
