Donna and Family,
I worked with Richard for over 20 years. He always had pumpkin stories, Bronco banter and funny jokes to tell. Since my kids were toddlers, they loved to see what the Pumpkin Man came up with every year at Halloween. He was always willing to share information and pumpkin seeds to start everyone's gardens each year. He was a kind soul and gentleman. Colorado Springs has lost a great friend and co-worker. Heartfelt thoughts to Ms Donna, his Forever Love. RIP Great Pumpkin Man!

Richard was a great influence on my daughter and many friends too many to mention. His passing is a big loss to all especially in the Giant Pumpkin community. He definately has a seat upstairs next to the big man. God bless Richard Plush you will never be forgotten. Condolences to all of Richard's family especially Donna and Tony. God Bless

I had the pleasure of meeting Richard, the first time I attended the Old Colorado City Giant Pumpkin weigh off,-- in 2007. He became one of the people I looked forward to seeing and talking to---the very most, when I go to that weigh off. His talent in the beautiful pumpkin carvings that he and his daughter Toni do---- will always be remembered. Going by Richard and Donna's house at the end of October to see these beautiful carvings has become an annual tradition that my wife Jackie and I love to do. Richard will be deeply missed by Jackie and I, and a lot of other Colorado pumpkin growers!

I met Richard as a child in Corpus Christi School. Then he took a group of boys and taught us the fundamentals of baseball, to make us good players and even better young men. I will always remember him for his fairness and devotion to us as a good person and a great coach. In later years we reconnected through my families love for growing giant pumpkins and his carving and displayimg his pumpkins on Halloween in front of his home. He will be very mmissed by many of us. My deepest sympathies to his wife and family. God bless.

Hey coach! Before you were known as a husband, father, grandfather and giant pumpkin grower you coached a generation of Corpus Christi baseball players to multiple city championships. You gave your time and energy every day for years and threw batting practice to every one of us daily. The team values you taught us were used in our daily lives as we went into the world. Thanks for making us run the perimeter of Bonny everyday at the end of practice! I will always remember your cool white Ford Mustang and your boundless enthusiasm for the game. You made us better baseball players and better men. God needed a great coach and he called you up to the major league.

I got to know Richard many years ago because we worked down the hall from one another. Our waving and saying HI turned into small talk about what the other one did for work, his passion for pumpkins, my love for fast cars, etc. One day he came by my desk and asked if I could help a contractor with a question. I tell you, once he got a hold of my desk number, he passed it out like Halloween candy! I never minded, though, because I knew that Richard had the faith in me that I could help citizens and contractors out with non-CSU questions that landed in his lap. I will forever be grateful for his confidence in me. Richard - I will miss your smiling face, genuine kindness and pleasantries we exchanged over the years. May you rest in peace.

Many, Many years ago, Richard coached the 8th grade Corpus Christi baseball team. I along with his brother Phil were members of that team. He was magnificent person and a great coach. He instilled many values to the team that I cherish to this day. I was able to keep in contact with Richard over the years while he worked for the city and myself in the development / construction industry. Richard will be deeply missed by all who know him and by all that had their lives touched by him… Pat {Ikola} Hartmann
