Richard Royse Obituary

Dick Royse passed away on March 17, 2009 at the age of 91. He was born to John and Sallie Royse on December 11, 1917 in LaJunta, Colorado. Dick was a life-long resident of Colorado. Dick was an avid fisherman. His first fishing trip was at the age of 4 1/2 with his grandfather. He spent many hours fishing in Colorado, Alaska and Canada. He also enjoyed hunting in Colorado, and was active in game management organizations. Dick graduated from LaJunta High School and then attended the University of Colorado as a chemistry major. When US entry into World War II cut short his education he enlisted in the Army where he became a navigator in the Army Air Corps. After being discharged from the Army, Dick sold insurance, retiring from Farmers Insurance in 1986. Dick married Myrtle Bode in December 1941, she preceded him in death in 1997. In 1998 Dick married Madge Hanggi. They enjoyed several years traveling around the US. Dick is survived by his wife Madge, son Bob (Carol), daughter Barbara (Dennis) Williams; grandchildren Clinton (Fiona), Tara, and Christopher Alder; Alayna (Carlos)Jimenez and Robert (Korinne) Royse; step-daughter Madge Fowler; step-grandchildren Ralph (Sartreva) Riddle and Jeff(Gretchen) Riddle; great-grandchildren Isaiah, Pablo, and Ian Alder; Sydney and Taylor Royse; Ralrriah and Lindsey Riddle; one brother John (Betty) Royse and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Calvary United Methodist Church, 4210 Austin Bluffs Parkway, Colorado Springs. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Chapel Hill Cemetery, Littleton, Colorado. Memorial contributions may be made in Dick’s name to the American Diabetes Association.

We are so sorry Uncle Lloyd has gone from this life, but celebrate with you that he is fishing in heaven! John says that he remembers that Uncle Lloyd taught him how to play chess. I remember that I felt loved by him from the first even though I was not a "Royse". Love and prayers to all.
