As my "Other Dad" Rich was always sweet and kind and had a smile to share. Rich and Ester always made me feel like a part of the family, like their "other daughter". I will never forget visiting with Val and spending those 2 fun filled weeks in Deleware. Rich even let me "crash" the simulator into the "water" even though it was totally against everything he taught, and he really didn't like the idea. He was always proud of his family and I'm sure he is teaching some of the other "newbies" up there just how to use their new wings...

Love you all,

Kerri

My condolence to Rich’s family and friends. He was a kind and gentle person and true aviation scholar and enthusiast.

I had the good fortune to work with Rich for the past several years. He was chipper and always had a smile and warm friendly greeting. I was always amazed with his depth of knowledge of anything to do with flying or space. There was not much in aviation that he was not aware of and he had a gift of understanding of anything technical. I will very much miss our daily talks and discussions.

Rich was a great guy to work with and a great guy to know. We will miss him at FlightSafety.
