Richard Dell "Dick" Tracy, age 69, was embraced by our Lord on December 30, 2012. Mr. Tracy, a resident of Colorado Springs, passed away after an extended illness. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Richard was born on May 7, 1943 to Nevin and Lillian Tracy in Colorado Springs, CO. In addition, he attended and graduated from Kennedy-Western University with a degree in Criminal Justice. He was employed and retired as the founding Director of School District #11 Security, which set the standard in Colorado for school safety and security in schools. He also became one of the first true gang experts used by school districts and law enforcement statewide as well as nationwide and later became a speaker and author on the subjects of gangs and school security. He married Linda Sue "Suzy" Tracy on January 4, 1964, in Colorado Springs. Both loved to travel while using their motor home with the company of their beloved grandchildren. He served as Vice President and Treasurer of S.T.I.N.G. (Security Threat Intelligence network Group), an organization that works closely with Law Enforcement to help combat gang activity and violence and worked to turn around troubled youth. He shared his everlasting love and infectious smile that impacted MANY individuals. He was a devoted Christian, and loved to serve the Lord. Eric, Patrick, Susie and families, I share your sorrow at the death of your dear dad. Our history is a long one and I always enjoyed and respected both your parents. And of course you kids have a special spot in my heart, too. I was ill and could not attend his service. I'd love to hear from you sometime. I am in the phone book, so give me a call. May you be comforted in your sorrow and rejoice in having such a wonderful dad and mom!

My deepest sympathies for your family. I had the opportunity of volunteering with Dick and his wife at MMC. Dick would always walk us out at night to make sure we would be safe. I guess I can delete his number from my phone. I will miss him deeply.

Dick brought expertise, direction, comfort, and empathetic but concise policy direction to the D-11 board as we created something from infancy. He was part of a tremendous team and guided us all. He was a bright spot in challenging times and always made us feel a greater sense of security...and that amazing smile! Thank you our own D-11 Dick Tracy. You made and continue to make a difference for our students, staff and community. Sincere condolences to your loved ones.
