Dear Anne and Family,
It is with great sadness that we have learned of Dick's passing. Much like Mama, he was a fighter and faced his daunting disease with great courage and quiet dignity. Anne, you took on the monumental task of care giver, as well as a constant source of inspiration. I know that your task was overwhelming at times, but you cannot have any regrets. God's Blessings on you and yours.
Fondly,
Bill and Sybil Petro

In 1980, LTC Dick Young came to work for my husband, then BG Charles W. Brown, in Zweibrucken, Germany. They found they shared a mutual love of hunting and fishing and story-telling. Together they spent many hours reviving the local Rod and Gun Club. Charles considered Dick one of the finest young officers he had ever worked with, and he was crushed when Dick was medically retired in 1987.
When we moved to CO in 1995, Dick and Anne were very generous in sharing their home and friends with us, as they were the only people we knew in Colorado Springs!
Through these past 12 years, we have watched with great admiration the courage with which Dick faced his diminishing health. Rarely a complaint was uttered.
And through it all, Anne has been the one who has borne the brunt of caretaking for her young husband, who had to grow old much too early. She has been his motivator, nudge, support and TRUE caregiver for all these many years. She is truly to be admired, and I know that Dick was so grateful to have her stand beside him.
So, both Dick and Anne Young are heroes, who faced this dread disease with humor, steadfastness,& courage, and derived pleasure from every day of life that they were given together.
Rest in peace, dear friend.

Dear Anne, Bryan, Kristen, and the Young Family: we are deeply sorry for the sadness this moment brings. If a man were to be remembered only for his children and the content of their character, then it is safe to say that your partner, father, and brother has a long legacy in all of our history books. He was a man of honor and distinction, with a will as strong as an oak, loyal to his friends, and passionate beyond words. His burden has been lifted -- may he rest in peace.
If we can do anything to help in this time of grief, we are here. We love you.

Dick and Anne have been a treasured part of our lives since the moment we met in 1973. We made so many special memories over time and it was an honor and privilege to be a part of Dick's life. Anne, Bryan and Kristen have our love and friendship completely.

Dick & I spent four great years at PMC, years in which we never thought that graduation would ever come. Since we both came from New Jersey, it was natural that we would become friends. Terry & I had great fun with Ann & Dick during our college years and we wish we could've stayed in touch after graduation. God bless the Young family.

How blessed I've been to know Dick Young and his entire family. Dick was not only a 20+ year client, but he, Anne, Bryan and Kristen have become great friends. Dick was always an inspiration because of his inner strength in dealing with his physical health and his incredibly positive disposition. He will be greatly missed but long and fondly remembered. My thoughts and prayers to his entire family. The world was a better place because of people like Dick. Love and Best Wishes.....Steve and Mary Ann Drexler

Our sympathies go out to Anne and all of Dick's immediate and extended family. Marcia and I were stationed with them (Dick, Anne, Bryan and Kristen) in Zwiebrucken in 1981 where we had the top floor and they the ground floor in our stairwell with shared German officer housing. Anne and Dick and their children were a very great help to me and my family when Marcia gave birth to Katie in December 1981 and had severe complications with the birth. To say they were bricks for us would be an understatement. They agreed to be godparents to Katie and we thank them so much for all of their kindness. Please know that you are welcome any time to stay with us, all of you, Anne, Bryan and Kristen with all your families.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Ann and family. Dick and I served twice together, first in Aberdeen MD, where we spent many days water skiing and nights playing cards, and eight years later at Fort Carson, CO.
