Our hearts are broken as we share that Riley Lynn Cordova, age 13, passed away on November 2nd.
Riley burst into the world on October 21st, 2012 and continued living life at 200%. She was a collector at heart, amassing pets, people, nicknames, friends, and even ValPak coupons. Riley was a vibrant and compassionate soul whose laughter, creativity, and kindness touched everyone she knew. She had a heart that noticed when others needed a friend, and she had a way of making people feel seen and loved. Whether she was skateboarding, climbing trees with her cousins, giving warm and fierce hugs, listening to music, expressing herself through makeup, creating art for her family, dancing with her sister, or wrestling in the living room with her brother, Riley brought joy and warmth to every moment.
Riley's family holds fond memories of her eating pancakes out of her purse, playing slug bug with her cousins, kissing the statues in the garden at Hungo Pavi, loving any animal that crossed her path, and competing in New Year's challenges and the annual Venheim Family Olympics. She cared deeply for her younger cousins whom she took care of and loved. Riley had a way of making everyone belong and fit in.
She will be forever and deeply missed by her parents, Rashel and Thomas Cordova, and her siblings, Teagan and Tommy. Riley will also be fiercely missed by her Oma and Bestafar, Mema and Grandpa, her Great Grandma, Tantes, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and many friends who will carry her kind spirit in their hearts.
A public viewing is scheduled for Tuesday, November 11th from 6-7 PM at Swan-Law Funeral Home. A celebration of Riley's life will be held on Wednesday, November 12th at Peak City Church with doors opening at 10:30 AM and a graveside service to follow. The family will be Rockin' it for Ry in black attire with a pop of her favorite color(s), pink, purple, and blue.
