Rita Barlow Obituary

Rita M. Barlow died in Colorado Springs, January 17, 2006. Swan Law Funeral Directors are handling arrangements. There will be a Memorial Service at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 28, 2006 at Memorial Gardens Chapel 3825 Airport Road, in Colorado Springs. Entombment will be at Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Colorado Springs. Miss Barlow was born on April 22, 1920 in Lowell, MA, to John and Philomena (Statuto) Barlow, both deceased. She was predeceased in death by her sisters: Beatrice Brock and Amelia Honen, both of Southboro, MA. Miss Barlow graduated from Marlboro High School, Marlboro, MA, as a secretary of the 1937 graduating class. She served in the WAAC and WAC, World War II, from January 1943 to June 1948. Her tour of duty included service in New Guinea and Manila. She became an Air Force Civil Service employee in 1948 and retired in 1970. Miss Barlow was extremely active in making gifts to many charities and she will be remembered for her generosity. During retirement she became a lifetime member of Penrose Community Hospital Auxiliary and had made over 5,000 hats for newborn babies. Miss Barlow had lived in Colorado Springs since 1951.
