Robert "Bob" Bartlett Obituary

Robert "Bob" Bartlett, noted building contractor, avid Colorado College Hockey Alum, World War II combat veteran, loving father, husband, and friend to all with whom he met since his 1937 arrival in Colorado Springs, passed peacefully at his Liberty Heights residence. Born in Buffalo, NY, Bob was raised and educated in Connecticut, where he excelled in both sports and academics, earning a scholarship to Colorado College, where he was goalie on the first CC Tiger Hockey Team. He remained a passionate supporter of CC Tiger hockey throughout his life. Following his 1941 graduation from CC, Bob was commissioned into the US Navy, where he served with distinction, spending over two years deployed throughout the Pacific, providing engineering, construction, and beach master support for many amphibious operations. Upon his release from active duty, Bob remained in the Navy Reserves for many years, while he pursued his distinguished construction and civil service career in Colorado Springs. Most notable of his many professional accomplishments and civic support activities are: Resident Engineer for Skidmoor, Owens, & Merrill during the construction of the US Air Force Academy; Director of Family Services at both the USAFA and US Forces Europe; Owner and Principal Contractor for Bartlett Construction; Founding Member and building contractor of the Garden of the Gods Club; Founding Member and past president of both the Woodmoor and Gleneagle Sertoma International Clubs. Bob is survived by his two children, Wendy Bartlett Burnette (of West Chester, OH) and Kent Andrew Bartlett (of Princeville, Kauai, HI.); and three grandchildren, Adam Elon Bartlett (of Berkeley, CA), Robin Lisa Burnette (of West Chester, OH), and Tobin Reinhart (of Malibu, CA). Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 28, 2011 at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 7400 Tudor Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80919. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held from 3:00-5:00 PM, Saturday, May 28 at Liberty Heights “Academy Club� 12105 Ambassador Drive, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80921.

I met Bob at Hacienda Del Mar, Cabo San Lucas, we hit it off straight away, for years we always booked at the same time of year! He was one in a million...I have a letter he wrote me framed at my house in Cabo, Bob was at my Casa for his 90t Birthday, he will always have a special place in my heart ♥ RIP...Katie xoxo
