Robert Copeland Obituary

Robert A. Copeland (85) passed away April 2, 2011, in Colorado Springs. He was born August 11, 1925, in Blanca, Colorado to Arthur B. and Clara M. Copeland. Mr. Copeland served in the U. S. Navy during WWII with the Seabees. After the war, he attended Adams State College, graduating in 1949 with a B.S. in Biology. He entered the insurance business in 1955 as a life underwriter for Mutual of New York and was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 1978. Mr. Copeland served on the board of directors of the Adams State College Foundation from 1992 to 2011. He was an avid golfer, fisherman, and organic gardener. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Peggy Lou (Winner) Copeland; his two daughters Rhonda Kennedy of Arvada and Reba Copeland of Fort Collins; and his two grandchildren, Travis Kennedy (Katie) of Centennial and Karla Kennedy of Lakewood. Also surviving are his sister Mildred Dixon of Los Angeles; brother Doyle (Dorothy) of Denver; numerous nieces and nephews, including Judy Quiller of Colorado City and Charles (Marge) Asay of Colorado Springs. Mr. Copeland was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Dorothy (Asay) and Willetha (Skinkle). A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 9th at 1:00 pm at Blunt Mortuary in Colorado Springs. Memorial contributions may be made to Pikes Peak Hospice or the Adams State College Foundation.
