Robert Dufault Obituary

Robert Charles "Bob" Dufault, age 97, U.S. Army veteran and retired Colonel, passed away peacefully at Brookdale Skyline on May 21, 2015.

Bob was born April 5, 1918, in Brockton, Massachusetts to the late Joseph A. and Evangeline L. Dufault. Bob entered military service in 1942 and served in the U.S. Army during WWII and his career spanned 32 years on active duty, with two tours of duty in Japan, after being stationed at the language school in Pasadena, California to learn Japanese; three tours in Korea; one in France (where he was more comfortable, due to his fluency in French, being raised by his French speaking Grandmother). He was also stationed in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. and finally, stationed at ENT Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Bob excelled in every assignment and retired in 1974 as a highly decorated Colonel. He married the late Shirley Stevens on Christmas Day, 1947 and they enjoyed their different assignments traveling, entertaining and raising their two sons: Robert A. "Bob" Dufault and Ronald D. "Ron" Dufault, until Shirley's death in 1980. Ret. Col. Dufault later married the late Adeline Perron Ceruti and enjoyed many happy years together residing in Colorado Springs and as snowbirds in Florida, until her death in 2005. Bob is predeceased by his sister Jeannette Dufault ("Sister Evangeline Dufault"). Bob leaves to cherish his memory, sons Robert A. (Bob) Dufault (Julia) and Ronald D. Dufault, as well as five Grandchildren: Robert D. (Rob) Dufault (Sharon); Steven C. Dufault (Michelle); Jackelyn L. Dufault Glaser (Dalton); Julianne C. Dufault; James D. Burditt Dufault. Also, two Great-Grandchildren: Brianna M. Dufault and Alyssa A. Dufault. Also survived by Step-Daughter Helen Kelly (Bob); Step-Grandson Brian LeVick (Marnee) and their daughter Emmylou and many friends and neighbors. Bob enjoyed fishing; was an avid reader, gardener, excellent cook and enjoyed watching all sports. He was a longtime member of Divine Redeemer Church. He had such a positive outlook on life, a great sense of humor and was generous to a fault. Bob was adored by all who knew him and deeply loved by his family. He leaves a huge hole in our hearts and will always be remembered with love.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 28, 2015, from 5:00 P.M.- 8:00 P.M., Swan-Law Funeral Home, 501 N. Cascade Ave., Colorado Springs, Colorado. Gerard Dufault

June 14, 2016

My father was Leo William Dufault, son of Noelia & William Dufault of Brockton, Massachusettes. My name is Gerard. I met Robert several times when I was in the Army back between '68 & '71 and when I was doing a trip around the country back in 1984. He had a very pleasant manner about himself and I was glad to have met him within our family. Truly a gentleman in every way. May he renew his relationship with all those that he loved now that he is among them.

I always wished I knew my uncle Robert. I'm the daughter of Leo Wm. Dufault, M. D. And I knew my Aunt Jeannette and Aunt Leonille very well, and visited them often in Elkton,Maryland. I have a sister Noelia named after Grandma Dufault and a brother Gerard. Uncle Robert resembles all the Dufault men I've ever met! It's nice to know I've got some other Dufault cousins out there, even though we've never met! I'm a Chicagoan now, who knows, maybe we'll run into each other..
Condolences to the family,
Andrea Dufault Galvin

Although we have never met the man himself, we feel blessed to have known of him through shared grandchildren. May the wisdom he bestowed, be a blessing for years to come.
