Robert Elipio Duran, 48, of Colorado Springs, passed away unexpectedly on January 9, 2026, in Phoenix, Arizona where he resided.

Robert was born on April 3rd, 1977, to Tammera Duran at Saint Frances Hospital in Colorado Springs. His father was Michael George Matthews. He was preceded in death by his father, Michael George Matthews, and his maternal grandparents, Elipio and Santana Duran. He is survived by his son, Anthony Barson, his mother Tammera Duran, sister Tanny Ann Duran and half-brother, Michael Jordan Matthews and many aunts, uncles, and cousins on both sides. Robert was a fifth generation Coloradan.

Robert attended and graduated from Liberty High School where he played football. He was an avid Denver Broncos fan. He loved to go to the games and tailgate with his friends. Robert greatly enjoyed fishing with his Grandpa Duran and had a passion for cooking. At the time of his passing, he was employed by Norwegian Cruise Line.

On January 28th, a Viewing (5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.) and a Rosary (6:30 p.m.) will be held at Swan Law Funeral Home, 501 North Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903. The Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. January 29 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 1830 South Corona Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80905, followed by interment at Evergreen Cemetery.
