Robert Eckert Obituary

Eckert
Robert "Bob" S, Eckert
February 9, 1937 - September 8, 2017
Robert (Bob) S. Eckert, age 80, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 8, 2017 in his home from a long illness. He was born on February 9, 1937 in Saint Paul, Minnesota to Harold Eckert and Gloria M. (Sherman) Eckert who are both deceased along with one half-brother Brian Vassar. He retired from the City of Colorado Springs. He was well known for his quirky, unique sense of humor and could always bring on a smile to others around him.
Bob had so many interests in life for his love of music, sports, roller skating, cars, cooking, movies, and he was an avid reader. He had a passion for knowledge on many topics regarding history, scriptures, space, science, insurance and real estate, and his strong patriotism and political views. He took pride in all of his accomplishments and had very strong work ethics. He was a great storyteller to his children, especially his paperboy stories growing up in Saint Paul, Minnesota. He was known for being a great negotiator for many of his personal purchases that he made and utilized those negotiating skills in his job as a Real Estate Services Representative for land acquisition with the City of Colorado Springs.
Bob was a disc jockey in Colorado Springs for KRYT and KYSN back in the mid-60's. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Linda S. Eckert of Colorado Springs. He is also survived by his children, Timothy J. Eckert of Palmer Lake; Donald H. Eckert (Sara) of Los Osos, California; Robert Daniel Eckert of Vista, California; and Judi L. Grado (Robert) of Palmer Lake. He was also a parent to 30 plus foster children. Bob is survived by nine grandchildren, Darion M. Ives (Jami), Derek C. Ives, Cody D. Eckert, Jacob C. Eckert, Austin J. Eckert, Jeffery C. Eckert, Kai M. Eckert, and step-grandchildren, Anthony R. Grado (Sarah), and Sarah E. Grado-Williams (Eric). He is also survived by two half-sisters, Dawn Vassar, Sylvia Vassar Mosley, and four half-brothers, Elliot, Dennis, Daniel, and Douglas Vassar.
The visitation and memorial service will be on Monday, September 18, 2017, at Cappadona Funeral Home, 1020 East Fillmore Street, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80907. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and the memorial service begins at noon.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
Burial will be immediately following at Evergreen Cemetery.

Linda, I was saddened to read of Bob's passing. He was such a character. I remember you both from your work with the City. I first met Bob in my teenage years roller-skating at the old Skate City downtown. Bob will be missed.
