I met Shel 24 years ago, at NBC and he has been my great friend ever since. I will miss his dry sense of humor, upbeat personality, and loyalty, the most. He loved his family, and he loved his friends. He was a true gentleman. My heart is breaking.

I have known the Sandman family for many years. I grew up in Winnetka and went to school with Lauren and Scott. They are still very much a part of my life today. My thoughts and prayers are with their entire family during this time.
Their family is truly one to be admired because their very visable love and compassion for one another. They to me, have always captured the essence of the strong, traditional, yet liberal american family. I will miss Mr. Sandman's very caring and practical personality. He was the type of person that always thought of others first and genuinely enjoyed helping them.

I knew Shel for 1/3 of a century, and my wife knew him for a quarter of a century. If there was a nicer guy on the planet, I am sure we haven't met him. Smart, funny, sentimental, super-professional technician, wonderful friend, brought out the best in everyone, and cute as a button to boot! We miss him already....meet ya on the other side. Love, DWA and Marla
