Robert Forbes Obituary

Bob Forbes passed away December 15, 2014 in Colorado Springs. Born December 1, 1943 in Jackson MI to 2nd Lieutenant Hollis W Forbes and Inez Estelle Forbes. Bob's father was killed in WW II in 1945 and his mother Inez remarried John "Ken" Hensinger.

After college Bob moved his family to Colorado Springs and lived the remainder of his life. A school teacher and coach with School District 11 for 13 years and a business owner and Financial Planner with Nexus Financial Programs Inc. for the last 32 years.

Survived by his wife Sherri L. Forbes, children Robyn L. Grantz (Jimmy), Craig H. Forbes (Rayma) and stepson Jayson C Mines (Renee); grandchildren Samantha A Velasquez, Megan G. Forbes, Shane H. Forbes, Paige H. Forbes, Connor M. Grantz, Brayden R. Grantz, Cameron E. Mines and Lukas C. Mines (deceased); great grandchildren Autumn M. Dyer and Danica S. Enriquez; brother Michael W. "Bill" Forbes of MI and sisters Margaret E. "Betty" Hensinger and Barbara L. "Barb" Hensinger of FL.

"Being a Scot my father believed the art of writing lay in thrift" - I'm reminded of this quote when I think of him. Bob was not only a proud Scot but enveloped a lifestyle that lay in thrift-he lived an adventurous life; traveled the world over from Alaska to Finland and explored his new found worlds to a depth of enlightenment. Being a teacher and Financial Planner didn't stop this man from being a jack of all trades-good with his hands and even quicker with his mind.

No words seem adequate to express how much he loved and enjoyed his family. He will be truly missed and remain in our hearts forever.

Services will be at St. Paul United Methodist Church December 21, 2:pm, 2111 Carlton Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80909.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association.

John & Lynn Michalke

December 20, 2014

May the road rise up to greet you, may the wind be always at your back and may you arrive in Heaven half an hour before the devil knows you're dead. Bob had a pretty good sense of humor, which we will miss as well as his serious side. A good friend has gone on ahead: see you later, Bob.

I once sent a card to my dad and his wife with this sentiment. He told me this is how he felt. "Perhaps they are not stars in the sky, but rather openings where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy".

-Eskimo Saying
I love you dad and will miss you dearly. Rest in peace
