Robert Friedell Obituary

Robert Edgar Friedell, 93, passed away April 23, 2013. Robert was born February 11, 1920, in Dubuque, Iowa, to Edgar and Kunigunda (Hoferlin) Friedell. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Rachel Louise Friedell, his parents, and brother, James. Robert graduated from Iowa State College in 1942. He served his country during WWII as a Captain in the Army Air Corps, stationed in France. Robert was employed by the US Dept of Agriculture in Chicago after he returned from the service. In 1956, he moved his family to Colorado Springs, where he worked for the Colorado Springs City County Health Department as a health inspector. Robert was innovative and industrious and had a passion for buying and selling antiques, auctions, home building, cars and garage sales. Robert is survived by his four children: sons Daniel (Patricia) Friedell of Colorado Springs and David (Pamela) of Palmdale, CA; daughters Diane McAllen of Centennial, CO and Julie Anderson (Randy) of Highlands Ranch, CO; eight grandchildren: Melissa Svenby, Jack Friedell, Bruce Keller, Bryan Reid, Robert Reid, Matthew Friedell, Katherine Alcala, Amanda Friedell; and great grandchildren: Rachel and Gunner Svenby, David and Mia Friedell, Kaitlynn and Calleigh Keller, Abigail Reid, and Ellie Alcala. The Friedell family would like to thank Pikes Peak Hospice, Right at Home and Emeritus at Bear Creek for their loving care. Robert will be cremated with a private memorial service to be held at a later date.
