Robert Frykholm

Robert Allen Frykholm died on January 17, 2024, surrounded by his wife Marilyn of 67 years, four children, ten grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
As an American Baptist minister, "Pastor Bob" served three churches over his years of ministry, including First Baptist Church of Colorado Springs from 1973-1989, where he was honored with the title of Pastor Emeritus. Bob and Marilyn lived in Vienna, Austria, from 1990-94. As International Ministry representatives, they served American Baptist mission interests in the Eastern Bloc countries and the Soviet Union.
Bob was a devoted husband and father. He spent countless hours coaching Little League baseball and cheering at soccer games. He was an avid model railroader. He instilled in his children a love of the Colorado mountains--often writing sermons in the Ski Cooper lodge while his family skied.
Bob was a graduate of Colorado State College of Education. He graduated from Bethel Seminary and was ordained at Calvary Baptist Church in St. Paul, Minnesota. He received his Masters degree from Luther Seminary and his Doctor of Ministry degree from the Iliff School of Theology.
In retirement, Bob and Marilyn enjoyed the beauty and community of Buena Vista, Colorado. A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, February 17 at First Baptist Church of Colorado Springs.

Even though I did not attend Calvary Baptist while Pastor Bob was shepherding this congregation, I have been blessed by the legacy of faith, service, and care he left here. I pray that the fullness of God's peace, comfort, and blessing will be upon all of Pastor Bob's family, friends, and congregants. To God be the glory.

Pastor Bob was my first pastor at Calvary Baptist Church in Roseville, MN. My parents Millard & ShirIey were baptized by him as adults. I feel so privileged to have been in the last group to be baptized by him a month before he left Calvary. I knew Stephanie from grade school thru Bethel College. I still remember Pastor Bob's sermon that was the most meaningful to me was a meditation about Jesus our Good Shepherd. Sending love and sympathy to Marilyn and the Frykholm family at this time.

I work at Calvary Church, where your dad was pastor before you and I even knew each other! I am so very sorry for the loss of your dad. I pray that God will be especially close to all of you.

Both Pat and I will long remember the gracious and loving time we spent with others of my family at the Frykholms for Thanksgiving following my mother´s death.
