Robert Griffith Obituary

Robert Gene Griffith December 20, 1928 - September 19, 2007. Robert Gene Griffith of Fountain, CO passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at Odyssey House Hospice in Colorado Springs, CO. Born on December 20, 1928 in Cowley County, Kansas to John and Mary Griffith. He spent his childhood in Foraker, OK, attending school there, grades 1-12, graduating in 1947. Robert entered the Army in January 1949 and served until February 1969. He served four tours in Germany, one in Korea and one in Iran. He retired with the rank of M/SGT. On January 10, 1950 he was married to Beulah Lorrine Culp who proceeded him in death on May 4, 2000. To this marriage was born three children; Gloria Kregar, Brenda Lincoln and John Griffith, who survive him. After his military retirement he was a painting contractor for 16 years until his wife's health conditions worsened and he became her caregiver until her death. On September 15, 2001, he married Nancy (Longley) Walker, who was a classmate during their high school years at Foraker High. She survives him. Robert is also survived by his sister Phyllis Sanders of Bartlesville, OK, three children, three step-children, John Walker, Vicki Baker and Rick Walker, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Robert is preceded in death by his parents and one brother. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 24, 2007 at Memorial Gardens Chapel and Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Odyssey Hospice, 4465 Northpark Drive, Suite 400, Colorado Springs, CO 80907.

Bob is a man I will never forget; I was fortunate enough to be one of his nurses at the Odyssey House. He gave us so much laughter!! I was honored to be with him on the day of his passing-he had a smile on his face & he was ready to go hunting! Blessings to you all...
