Robert Leasure Obituary

Robert Ellis Leasure, 89, of Colorado Springs died of natural causes Monday, August 15 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Pre-deceased by his wife of 54 years, Betty Jean Stulck Leasure, he is survived by his twin children, Mary Margaret Leasure, a resident of Albuquerque and David Lee Leasure a resident of Denver and grandchildren; David Bloyer, Laurie Bloyer, David and Joshua and great grandchildren; Ellis Jon Bloyer, Isaac Christian Bloyer. Robert was a recognized author and "storyteller" of several published novels and magazine article submissions, an accomplished and recognized photographer, and a 30 year employee of the Colorado Springs Post Office. Robert served as a US Army Sargent responsible for a cryptography section in WWII where he met and married his future wife on July 4, 1945. Robert's early years were spent in Lamar, Colorado where he developed his interest in the history, people and "firm American brand" of the Old West. Robert was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a parishioner of the First Presbyterian Church in Colorado Springs. At his request, Robert's ashes will be scattered at the same location as those of his wife where they will be "warmed by the suns of the summer and dissolved by the snows of winter, to be moved about by the wind and furnish nutriment for old friends." I am a part of all that I have met; Yet all experience is and arch wherethro' Gleams that untravell'd world, whose margin fades For ever and for ever when I move. --Alfred Lord Tennyson, Ulysses

I had the pleasure of going arrowhead hunting with Bob. He was an amazing person and always had the most wonderful stories. Mike and I did a hike around the Black Mountain area this past weekend and were thinking about Bob. Keep looking for those "Cottonwoods"!
