Robert Lindsey Obituary

Robert E. Lindsey passed peacefully Monday, April 25th in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Bob's journey began in Dennison, Ohio when he entered this world 72 years ago. Raised by his parents, Charles and Pauline Lindsey, Bob later departed Dennison for college at Bowling Green, then Notre Dame, and served in the Army for three years before returning to college - eventually graduating from Ohio State University. Before moving to Colorado Springs, Bob lived in Des Moines, Iowa for twenty-five years. While living in Des Moines, Bob met  his wife of forty-two years, Gretchen, and raised six children, Bob spent the final 22 years of his journey in Colorado Springs, where he's known by many through his knife-sharpening business as "the knifeman". Bob's presence will always remain with the many lives he touched; he'll be remembered by his wife, Gretchen; his brother George of Redondo Beach, California; his three daughters: Anne and Leslie of DesMoines, and Constance of Denver; his three sons: John of Mobile, Alabama; Tom of Tipton, Iowa; and Brad of Portland, Oregon; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and the many other lives whose spirit Bob impressed upon during his life. Bob's journey will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 29th, 2005 at Evergreen Funeral Home, 1830 East Fountain Blvd. Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910 (719) 475-8303. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pikes Peak Hospice and Palliative Care in Colorado Springs.

I'll always remember the knifeman driving the knife-mobile. His reponse of "finer than frog hair, better than perfect" when asked how he was doing has always stayed with me. Take comfort in your memories of happier times. My thoughts are with you and your family, Gretchen.
