Robert Longwell Obituary

Feb. 10, 1926-Mar. 30, 2006. Captain Robert Allan Longwell, U.S. Navy(Retired), age 80, resident of Colorado Springs who was formerly of Los Angeles passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2006 at his home in Colorado Springs. He was retired from the United States Naval Reserve. Robert was born on February 10, 1926 in Colorado Springs. He attended school in Colorado Springs and was raised at the Myron Stratton Home. He attended college and then joined the Navy. He retired as a Captain after 26 years in the Navy and Naval Reserve. Robert also flew as a commercial pilot with Delta Air Lines for 40 years retiring as Captain. He married Diane Fjelstad on November 8, 1997 in Lake Mills, Iowa. Robert is survived by his wife, Diane of Colorado Springs. He is also survived by a sister: Shirley Van Diest of California; two aunts in Colorado Springs and his mother-in-law, Dolores Fjelstad of Lake Mills, IA. His parents preceded him in death: Theodore and Helen (Armentraut) Longwell. Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, April 3, 2006 at TAG Chapel, New Life Church, 11025 State Hwy 83 North, Colorado Springs, CO. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Funeral Services will also be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2006 at the Winnebago Lutheran Church in Lake Mills, IA. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Middlestadt Funeral Home in Lake Mills, IA. Interment will be at the Winnebago Lutheran Church Cemetery. Blessed be his memory.
