Robert McKinley Obituary

Bob McKinley, 81, left for Heaven surrounded by his loving wife Judy, and family, after a brave battle with cancer.

He was born January 29, 1933 in Colorado Springs to Robert Gooch McKinley and Pauline Kirsten Rose. He graduated from Colorado Springs High School in 1951. He grew up with his sister Jody and sister Nina (deceased) and continued to be a loving, protective brother throughout their lives.

A proud patriot he served his country for 2 years in the US Army, stationed in Germany during the Korean War. Returning home he was married to his first wife, Carol Short Rieves, fathering 4 children, Rob, Mindy, Melanie and Rick.

He married Judy Haymes McKinley in 1982, and gained 2 additional children, Brad and Tamra. They had a long and loving relationship for 32 years, cherishing each other and sharing a love of life, family and adventure.

An amazing man, Bob took advantage of every minute of his life, sharing his faith, personal integrity and many talents with his family and friends. He was a business man, entrepreneur, artist, inventor and avid outdoorsman with proud membership in the NRA and Republican Party. He will always be remembered "tinkering" with something that needed to be fixed, rigging up a new boat to spend endless hours lake fishing, writing opinions for the local newspapers or sometimes sent directly to the White House. He taught by example and his children and grandchildren will be forever grateful to have known him.

Living in joyful remembrance are Bob's wife Judy, his children Rob, Mindy (Bob), Melanie (Jim), Rick (Tiffany), Brad (Judi), Tamra, his grandchildren, Elizabeth (Sebastion), Maxwell, Julie (George), Mack, Sadie, Sam, Joe, Colby (Neil), Caleb, Hallie (William), Jacob, McKayla, Taylor, Ryan, his great-grandchildren, Zachary (Bailey), Alison, Layla, his sisters Jody and Kay, brothers Jim and Wade, step-mother Pickles.

A celebration of Bob's life will be held at ClearView Community Church August 9, 2014 at 11:30am.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to ClearView Community Church, 457 Rodeo Rd, PO Box 1336, Buena Vista, CO 81211
