Robert Morris Obituary
Robert (Bob) Ray Morris, age 81, went to be with the Lord on September 23, 2007. He was born on January 3, 1926 at Simla, CO to James A and Josie B (Richardson) Morris who preceded him in death. Robert was married to Virginia B. Burnett on June 11, 1960 in Raton, NM. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years. They had a very loving, caring life together through many wonderful times and some hardships. They were always seen together as a loving couple. Robert attended Alta Vista School and graduated from Simla High School in 1944. He was a farmer/rancher eight miles South of Simla, CO for many years then worked for Elbert County Road Maintenance Department until he retired. He moved to Simla when his parents passed away in 1981. He was a very strong believer in Jesus Christ as his Savior and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Simla. His last three years were at the Good Samaritan Home in Simla, CO where he was well taken care of by the workers there. He was known there by his singing the old hymns as he went down the halls. Robert served in the Army during WW11 from April 30, 1945 to January 5, 1947. He was a part of the first occupation forces in Japan. He was a member of the local American Legion for many years. Bob is survived by two brothers, J Weldon Morris and wife Ada of Lakewood, CO, C. Wayne Morris and wife Nancy of Colorado Springs, CO. He is also survived by three sisters Velma K Labertew of Pueblo, CO, Mildred I Wofford of Lakewood, CO, and Alene R Karnes and husband Avner of Goodyear, AZ. Bob had no children but is survived by several nieces and nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. He also had many relatives and friends in the Colorado, Missouri, and Ohio areas. He will be greatly missed by all. Visitation for Bob will be held on Thursday, September 27 from 6 to 8 PM at the Love Funeral Home in Limon,CO. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 28 at 10:30 AM at the First Baptist Church in Simla, CO. Burial will follow in the Simla Cemetery.
