Robert Barcley Neilson departed this life on January 14, 2024. He was 82.

Robert is survived by his wife, Evelyn, of 57 years; his son Scott, daughter-in-law Susan; grandkids Samuel, Steven, and Sylvia Neilson; and daughter Leah, son-in-law Cris, and grandsons Alexander, Connor, and Mattias Johnson. He is also survived by his sister Deborah and her husband Richard Collins, and brother Donald and his wife Donna Neilson. He was Uncle Bob to many nieces and nephews.

Robert was born on May 23, 1941, in Waltham, Mass., to Douglas Robert Neilson and Jean Howard (Robb) Neilson. He grew up in Newtonville, Mass., and moved to Colorado Springs, CO, after graduating from Boston University in 1963. Bob was a physical education teacher and coach at Carson Middle School for 32 years. He was also a life-long musician. He played guitar and electric bass for over 50 years in the church choirs at Sacred Heart Church in Colorado Springs and Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Manitou Springs. He also played bass with several bands in Colorado Springs.

Bob deeply loved his wife, Evelyn, his kids, grandkids, siblings, in-laws, nieces and nephews, and all of his many friends. He lived a life of service, and can finally rest with Jesus by his side. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on January 23, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Colorado Springs.
