Robert Perdue Obituary

Our beloved husband, dad and grandpa, Robert (Bob) Leon Perdue passed away peacefully on February 25, 2014 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Bob is survived by his wife Norma (Gulick) Perdue of 65 years; daughters and sons-in-law, Deb and Rich Resling and Pam and Tom Price; granddaughters, Mikala and Jenna Price, all in Colorado. Bob was preceded in death by his daughter, Judy, his parents, and his younger brother, Donnie. His oldest brother, Glenn and his wife, Marilou, live in Peoria Heights.

Bob was born in Abingdon, Illinois. His greatest loves were family, music and golf. He started singing at the age of 5 on the radio with his brother Glenn and went on to sing barbershop for many years. He worked as a caddy at a very young age and through the years made several holes-in-one! He served in the U.S. Navy and came back to marry his high school sweetheart in 1948.

Bob never met a stranger and spent many years in sales, owned a restaurant and owned and managed grocery stores in Rockford and Pekin, Illinois. Norma and Bob left Morton, Illinois and retired to Daphne, Alabama. They moved to Colorado in May of 2012.

Bob was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and the "end of an era." He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Colorado Chapter, Inc., 2315 Bott Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO 80904.

Services will be held in Daphne, AL.

To Norma, Deb, Rich, Pam, Tom, Mikala, & Jenna,

I send you my love in this bittersweet time of life for all of you. Even with the peace that Bob is free of all worldly burdens, there is still grief in the loss of a loving husband, father, and grandfather. And I add – a loving “Uncle”. I have wonderful memories of us “kids” being together, celebrating birthdays and other holidays, and most of all I remember the wonderful times the “adults” had playing cards and enjoying each other's company. Spending time with him as I became an adult has been a treasure. His love for his family was so evident by his actions. He lived an exemplary life that touched so many people along the way. So I raise my Manhatten glass (with sweet vermouth, and cherry juice) as a toast in celebration of Bob and life well lived!

Much love to all of you.

Norma,Deb,Rich,
Pam,Tom,Mikala, Jenna

We are so sorry to hear of Bob's passing. We hope that you can find strength and comfort in the love of your family. May it help you to know how many lives Bob brightened with his kindness. Such a wonderful person will never be forgotten. Bob was so very proud of his daughters. But may his love live on in your memories and bring you peace. Have such fond memories of our trips out to Colorado and the many visits we had with Deb/Rich and Norma/Bob. We had such a nice visit and many laughs with Deb/Rich and Norma/Bob over breakfast in Morton over our last time together. My thoughts and prayers will be with you and your family during this difficult time
