Robert Pettis Obituary

Robert Gordon Pettis, III, age 55, a longtime resident of Colorado Springs, passed away on February 14, 2016.

Robert was born on July 7, 1960 in Vicenza, Italy. He lived in many places while growing up in a military family, before settling in Colorado Springs in 1976. He graduated from Widefield High School in 1979. He met his wife, Susan Brondum, on "Senior Skip Day" and they were married in 1984.

He managed multiple restaurants in the area for 20 years, always working closely alongside of his employees. Robert then owned and operated B&B Appraisals for 5 years. He was District Manager for Standard Coffee Service for 15 years, where he received multiple accolades.

Robert played semi-professional football with the Colorado Springs Flames for 13 years, earning 5 championship rings. He was proud to wear number 77 and pass that number down when his son started playing sports. Robert was an avid Broncos and Rockies fan. He also enjoyed camping and riding his motorcycles.

Above all, Robert loved his family, and cherished his time with them. He was a loving husband, caring father, and proud grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Susan; children: Venessa Nikole (William) Long, and Daniel James (LeAnn) Pettis; and grandson, Cameron. He is also survived by his parents, Robert and Lorrie Pettis; and sisters, Denise Bryant, Teresa (Clint) Heckel, and Kathy Hill. He is also survived by Susan's parents, Ronald and Shirley Brondum; Susan's brothers, Michael (Becky) Brondum, Mark Brondum, and Daryl (Brenda) Brondum; numerous nieces and nephews; and family cat, Tigger. He was preceded in death by his best friend, Jay Moore.

Funeral Services will be held at 10am on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at St. Raphael Episcopal Church, 802 Leta Drive. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or to Pikes Peak Hospice.
