Robert Rush Obituary

RUSH-Robert Lee Rush, Robert (Bob) Rush passed away on March 23, 2009 with the love of his life, Sheila Thompson, at his side and his daughter, Kasey, watching over him. Bob was born on Dec. 10, 1941, the middle son of Frank and Helen Rush. He graduated from Arcadia High School in 1959 and majored in Business Administration at Arizona State. He joined Arcadia Pools, founded by his parents in 1948, along with his two brothers, Les and Bud. Bob's talent for visual design led him to move the business from pool maintenance to construction, including swimming pools for the Pasadena Showcase House. He is survived by Sheila, Kasey, Bud and his wife Patty, granddaughter Taylor, niece Melinda and her three children-Samantha, Alexandra and Jackson, nephew Kevin and niece Alison. Many hearts are broken by his death. He waged a valiant fight against cancer. We're comforted to know his brother, Les, was wai ting with his Harley to ride Bob, the POOL KING, to join their parents, sipping mai-tais and enjoying macaroni and cheese!

Hello, I am a previous customer, 1980 ish, from Alhambra. We wanted a jacuzzi , we called the first alphabetical listing, and Bob did the job with our vague instructions. It was absolutely gorgeous , professional and cleaned up each day during the consruction. As a cynic, second to none, I was impressed with his work. We moved to Sierra Madre in 1988, and I saw him at Howie's market, where I stopped him to tell him how impressed I was with his artistry and kindness. It was easy to spot him, he reminded me of Robert Preston the actor. I extend my condolences to his family. He was a true gentleman and a professional. Peggy Matchin, sierra madre

I was clueless of the magnitude and exuberance life my Bob led.
The richness and beauty in the women he kept in his life for years,
All the people he help grow start they’re own business and the generosity
he bestow to all who needed it.

And that may be do to the fact I’ve only been around since 1995.and in his home late 2004. I thank all of you.

I thank the girlfriends Jolie, Patty, Kathleen and Julia and more that excepted me the entire family Les, Bud and Patty. Kacy, Taylor, Allison and Doug and the multitude of friends that embrace me.

For I am truly honor and bless that he chose me to be the love of his life
To be his soul mate, we knew this with all of our being we knew this one single knowledge, the intensity of a single soft kiss that would fill my whole being, and the hugs that would stop time those many many moments when his eyes would turn an olive green right before my eyes as he told me he loved me.

I have never known such real LOVE in my life as what I had with my Bob
And although it is the absolute painful thing in my heart I will ever say

It is better to have loved and loss than never to have loved at all

My Bob we know this is not goodbye for when our sprits meet in the when and dance it’s I will see you when I see you
For as you said my forever and ever, and that I am.

I love you My Bob

When I was 17 years old, Bob gave me my first "real" job - as a weekend cashier at Arcadia Pools & Spas. He probably didn't really need to hire a cashier, but maybe he said "yes" because I made the effort to walk in the store, smile sweetly, and ask him for a job...(and he already knew me because my mom, Kathy, used to work for him and Bud.)
He was patient with me, except for those days when I made lots of "oops" with pushing the wrong buttons on the cash register. I do remember sometimes looking through the big window into his office and seeing his face get red when he was totaling up the day's receipts and counting up all the "oops" I had written on the cash register tape! He never got mad...not at me, at least!
I'm thankful that I was able to reconnect with him this last year. I always thought of him as sweet, playful and loving life. I will miss him.

How lucky I feel to have had Bob in my life for the past 25 years. The first 6 as my boyfriend and the last 19 as one of my dearest friends. I think it's a great testimonial to Bob that all of his former girlfriends, several of whom Julia mentioned, remained in his life through the years. We became friends with one another as well...including his current love, Sheila.

Bud, Patty, Ali, Kasey, Melinda, Kevin and the entire extended Rush family...I share in your sorrow as we say so long to Bob.

Bob...I miss you so much already and will love you forever. Please give Frank a big kiss from me!

Until we meet again,

Kathleen xo

I spent tha past 20 years with the best person I've ever known. Some of it in a relationship and the rest as best friends, a piece of my heart is gone. What a beautiful, giving, caring and sometimes "crabbie" friend I was blessed with. I send my prayers out to all who loved him over the years, Jolie, Kathleen, Pam, Brenda and of course Sheila. Bob lived his life to the fullest and I was blessed to share those many years with him.

Sleep tight angel!
