Robert Sennert Obituary

I may have already said this, but I enjoyed doing music with Bob, backing him up at the Edelweiss, and at various 'jams', including one at Prospector Campground at Dillon Reservoir. His sense of humor was great, and I will always remember him

I still have vivid memories of backing Bob at the
Edelweiss, where we held forth after CCFLT meetings during the day. I learned a lot.

I met Bob in '73, when I provided entertainment for a meeting of the Colo. Cong. of For. Lang. Teachers(ccflt), and shortly after would back him at the Edelweiss on several occasions. He attended a picking weekend at
Dillon Reservoir a few years later, and was well received by all the musicians.

Bob and I were longtime members of CCFLT(foreign language teachers). Most annual meetings were held at the Broadmoor, and in the evenings I would join him with my guitar at the Edelweiss. We had some good times, and sang in German, French, Spanish and English. I'll never forget him.

Thank you Her Sennert! You made my German class at Widefield High School (2001) so truly memorable! Her Sennert was so talented and LOVED teaching to us kids. He would grab his guitar, stand in front of the class and sing "Bub und spinne, bub und spinne gingen in den wald..." https://youtu.be/z8vNdw4_zx a song I would go home and sing to my Dutch mom who also speaks German. We still sing it to this day! It is a song about a Boy and Spider which I guess popular culture has changed it to a Pup and Spider. Of course Her Sennert's version was much more lively and fun like Polka style! Her Sennert you are an amazing man! Thanks for sharing your gift with us :)

Mr. Sennert was such a talent. We celebrated our special birthdays at the Edelweiss and we always asked Mr. Sennert to entertain us. He knew every song we requested. Even my Schwaebian songs he knew and sang & played for us. He is dearly missed. I hope you entertain and sing your songs where ever you are now. You are dearly missed here on earth.

I had the privilege of teaching next door to Robert for many years. He was a fount of German language and culture to our students....many, many of whom had German parents or who had lived in Germany. Herr Sennert's musical, cultural and language skills made him the perfect bridge of the old and new German community in Widefield. He will always be an unforgettable icon in the WHS and Springs community.

Herr Sennert was my German teacher at Widefield High School. I loved school, but I especially looked forward to my German class. Certainly we learned the language and the culture, but Herr Sennert also had a way of bonding with the students. I have a fond recollection of the 'rebel boy' in the class...Herr Sennert and 'rebel boy' would play Stairway to Heaven on their guitars at the end of class...almost daily...it sounded great. So to you, Herr Sennert, I know you had a stairway that lead you directly to heaven. Thank you for the lessons and the memories. Rest In Peace, sir...

I am saddened to hear this news. As a military brat, I was born in Germany and always wanted to learn the language. Herr Sennert was my German teacher at Widefield High School back in the late 80's (Class of 1988). I had German all three years at WHS and that class was my favorite. I was also in the German Club. He was a kind, funny, compassionate teacher who truly cared for his students and had a passion for teaching and sharing the German culture. I have such fond memories of that time. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

Herr Sennert was my German Teacher. Very entertaining, I will never forget hearing about his experiences the two years I took German with him nor will I forget the field trips we took for German Club.

Herr Sennert was my German teacher at WHS and had him for for German Club also. I also worked with him at the Edelweiss Restaurant for a short time. He was such a nice man. I know he will be truly missed by many. RIP Herr Sennert.

Wow! This great man will be missed here on earth. He never knew what an impact his love for life (especially German Culture) had on me as a Sophmore at Widefield HS. I always looked forward to his class. RIP Mr Sennert you are loved and will be greatly missed.

Herr Sennert was my German teacher and ran the German club back in the late 70's! Having a German mom, it just felt natural in his class. He was amazing, and truly will be missed. RIP, and may the edelweiss surround you!

Robert entertained us many times at the Edelweiss. I always got him to sing "Seeman" for us. Always a cheerful soul in his strolling troubadour guise.
