Robert David Sheets passed away Sunday, June 4, 2023, at the age of 83. Born in Delta, Colorado, "Bob" was the eldest child of Robert Bueler Sheets and Viola Marie Ensign and older brother to sisters Jacque and Kae.
As a student in California at Long Beach State College, Bob met "the love and light of his world," Colette Holbrook, who became his source of joy and support over their next six decades together. Married in 1960, they soon moved to Houston to raise their young family where Bob was part of the historic Apollo space program. As a marketing executive with North American Rockwell and Grumman Aerospace, he served as their primary liaison to NASA's Johnson Space Center.
In 1983, he returned to Colorado to launch the Grumman office in Colorado Springs where he built new business relationships with the Air Force and defense industry. After retiring, Bob helped start a 21st Century Charter School and established the Southeast & Armed Services YMCA. Bob was a passionate and devoted member of the First United Methodist Church for forty years.
Bob is survived by his three loving children, Rob (Lisa) Sheets, Andrea (Michael) Bostick, and Chris (Julie) Sheets, as well as his seven grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at 2:30pm at First United Methodist Church. Gifts in his memory may be made to The YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region. https://ppymca.org/support/donate
