Robert D. Smith, better known as "RD" or "Smitty" to friends, "Papa", "Pops" and "Dad" to his family, passed February 15, 2024. Born January 14, 1938, Robert grew up in Kansas, served in the Air Force, and landed in Colorado where he purchased land and built a home in Manitou Springs. He was an honest, hard-working man, doing most anything himself. He taught his children work-ethic, perseverance, and integrity.
Robert is survived by his wife of 52 years: Pam; his sister Carlene; four children: Charissa, Clarie, Robert and Missy; a step-son, Troy; ten grand-children and six great-grand-children. He was an avid participant in tractor pulls with the Rocky Mountain Tractor Pullers Association. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the association that meant so much to him: [email protected], 719-339-1386 and 719-989-8641. A gathering with friends and family will be held Tuesday, the 27th at 11:00 am at Community Congregational Church of Manitou Springs: 103 Pawnee Ave.
