Robert von Engeln Obituary

The son of John Carl von Engeln and Catherine Halpin, Robert Dale von Engeln was born in Ludell, Kansas. When he was five, the family moved to Kansas City, Missouri where he lived until he entered the Army Air Corps during World War II. During World War II, Lieitenant von Engeln, Class of 43-H, was an instructor pilot and flew the AT-6, P-39, P-40, P-47, P-51, B-25, and sea plane. In 1944, he married Margery Jean Lindsay of Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Together, they made homes in Cincinnati, Ohio, St. Louis, Missouri, and Colorado Springs. Mr. von Engeln was in real estate business for sixty years, fifty one of them in the Colorado Springs area. Mr. von Engeln is survived by his loving wife of 65 years and their children: daughter Theresa Ann von Engeln of Colorado Springs and her daughter Sarah Lindsay Schillereff of Fort Collins, Colorado, son Mark Lindsay von Engeln and his wife Robin and their daughter Lauren Marie von Engeln of Greenwood Village, Colorado, daughter Lisa Marie Leigh and her husband Tim and their daughters Shannon Marie Stornetta and Holly Ann Trinidad of Colorado Springs, and son Edi Kelly von Engeln and his wife Billie and their daughter Rachael Lindsay von Engeln of Reno, Nevada. He was preceded in death by his brother Jack von Engeln and his sister Peggy Flynn of Kansas City, Missouri. A private family celebration of Mr. von Engeln's life will be held and his ashes will be buried next to his son, Christopher, in Resurrection Cemetery in Saint Louis, Missouri. The family is deeply grateful for the loving support given by the staff of Pikes Peak Hospice and requests memorial contributions be given to them.
