Robert Walsh, Jr. Obituary

Robert E. Walsh, Jr., 83, of Colorado Springs passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Pikes Peak Hospice. Bob was born on January 25, 1931 in the Bronx, New York. He resided in New Providence, New Jersey until he joined the United States Navy in 1949.

He served in the Navy for over 26 years. After retirement from the Navy, he taught elementary school in Hawaii, Indonesia, Iran, and Saudi Arabia. He then returned to the communications and information technology field as a defense contractor and civil servant for the Defense Information Systems Agency - Pacific until 2001. He continued to serve as a contractor until retirement in 2007. He had over 35 years of service in the Department of Defense.

He enjoyed traveling, living in Hawaii, the ocean, information technology, and being with his family. He was married to Della Jane Ryan for 56 years. She passed away in August of 2010.

Bob is survived by his three children, Elizabeth Schmidt (Joseph), Peter Walsh (Joanne), and Michael Walsh. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren

A Mass of Christian Burial is planned for Thursday, January 22, 2015, 11:00 a.m., at St. Paul Catholic Church, 9 El Pomar Rd., Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Bob and Della were close friends and we will miss them greatly. We spent many wonderful times with them in Hawaii. Bob lived to spend time with his children and grand children.

Bob was a pleasure to travel with when he worked for the government at DISA PAC. He was my DSN Switch Evaluator and very good at his job, he was missed when he retired from the government and will be remembered now that he is with his loved ones. Thankyou for the memories.
