Robert Weeks Obituary

Robert J. Weeks, a loving father, brother and friend, passed away unexpectedly on November 12, 2009. An avid Lionel Train enthusiast, known to everyone as Bob, he was a tireless innovator who always found time to help others in need. His gift for conversation, trademark laughter and compassion quickly turned acquaintances into lasting friendships. Bob spent his childhood on Cape Cod in West Yarmouth, Mass. the son of Mary I (Coffey) and Benjamin E. Weeks III. He graduated from Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School in 1970. After serving in the Army for three years and receiving an Honorable Discharge, Bob declined an invitation to attend Officers Training School in order to pursue his other interests with former Army friends in Northampton, Massachusetts. Upon moving to Florida as an Independent Insurance Broker, he married Bonnie and adopted her son, Kelly. They had three more children, John, David, and Mary. His gift for engineering developed into a business when he and his new wife Donna, created "The Weeks Express," a company devoted to the reconstruction, preserving history, and sales of vintage Lionel trains. He sold his business in Georgia and moved to Colorado where he dedicated two years to Bible studies. He was allowed the opportunity to travel to St. Petersburg, Russia to further his studies while helping others. He moved back home to Northampton, MA this past spring where he passed away. Bob is survived by his children, John, David and Mary Weeks of Glennville GA and two sisters, Patricia Weeks of New York City and Nancy Weeks-Cantone of Concord MA, and two nieces Brooke and Haley Cantone both of Concord MA. Visiting hours will be Tuesday November, 17th from 6-8pm in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford St. Concord, Mass.. It will be 1 year tomorrow that Bob passed & since his passing my days are not filled with his spirit of kindness & his laughter. I had a rough summer without Bob coming to my back door asking if I was up for a cribbage game. May God watch over his famiily & friends. It has been most difficult as I was the last to see him at the trash before he passed. Keeping all of his family & friends in my prayers.

Bob was a great friend while he was in Georgia. I was going through a divorce after 20+ years of marriage. There is no way that I could have made it without Bob's encouragment. I was new to insurance sales as Bob and I worked together. He allowed me to spend some weekends with him in Claxton Georgia and "TOOK" me to church! Thank God!! What an amazing friend and unique person he was! There are very few people who would have put up with my depression and hard times in those days, but that was Bob. I will NEVER forget his support during the "darkest days of my life" as I struggled initially financially with insurance sales and a ruff divorce at the same time. I just found out about his passing on Sept. 16, 2010....I am still dealing with this but I know he is in heaven and will see him again.

Bob was really special to me. He encouraged me during my time at Charis Bible College and let me know that I was special. I look forward to seeing him again in Heaven because I know that he loved God and trusted Jesus as his Savior.

Bob and I went to Bible College together, it was a two year program, but it took us three years, lol. I spent a lot of time with Bob from 11/05-12/08. Bob would come to our house and we'd have dinners, or just hang out. Bob was always loving and encouraging. He talked a lot about his two boys and his daughter, how much he loved them. My deepest condolences to Bob's family. I can't even begin to imagine what you are going through and I am truly sorry. I loved Bob very much, he was very special to us.

Bob was my neighbor that turned in to a great friend. He was kind, compassionate & caring. He & I shared many laughs & cribbage games as the Moody Blues was playing on his cd player. He had such positivity & kindness. Although the time was too short, he became the best friend & neighbor anyone could have. My heart goes out to his family at this time, along with my sincerest condolences. The world needs more like Bob in it to make every one's day brighter. He is sadly missed and I can't begin to express the loss his family is enduring. He shall always remain in my heart and prayers as I pray for his family to find some healing of such a tremendous loss of a person so loving. My heartfelt sympathies extend to his friends as well as his Army buddies he shared stories to me with.
