On the evening of November 17th, after a short, courageous battle with cancer, Bob passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family.

Bob Wright was born in Cloud County, Kansas March 8, 1924.

The second son born of Walter and Amy Wright. Bob lost his mother at the early age of eight.

Bob grew up on a farm outside of Concordia Kansas.

In May 1944 Bob volunteered in the United States Navy. He served on the USS Muliphen. In addition served as a coxswain, operating an amphibious landing craft and saw action in the Pacific Maryannas, Salomon Islands, in the Battle of Iwo Jima and the Battle of Okinawa. In October 13, 1945 he landed trooped in Tokyo Bay in occupied Japan. He was honorably discharged April 1946 as a Petty Officer 3rd Class.

His next and longest job started working for Town Talk Bakery, where he was a salesman. In the early 70's Town Talk became Star Bread where he was the Sales Manager. Finally retired after working for Widefield School District for three years.

Bob loved elk hunting and was an avid fisherman, he also loved his grandkids, great grand kids and his dogs. Followed closely by watching the Broncos and any sporting events .He could never spend enough time tending his flowers, yard and garden. Bob was also an active member in the VFW, the Moose Lodge, and the Amphibious Force Attack Boats WW II. A devout World War II veteran and family man, Papa will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

I didn't personally know Bob but I did serve on the Muliphen and I am a lifetime member of the VFW Post 445 in Charleston, SC so I feel he was a shipmate that needs to remember. Thank you for your service.

My Uncle Bob was a very kind, genuine person - as I'm sure all of his family can attest to. I have many fond memories of visiting Colorado in the summers while growing up. The one time I ever fished was with Uncle Bob up in the mountains. I was young, and I remember how patient he was with me. He always had a smile and a hug for everyone. I know he will be truly missed by all that knew him. Rest in peace, Uncle Bob.
